3. Believe in your nurses and get them involved in solutions.

4. Ask how to improve your nurses' work environment and work intensity on a regular basis.

5. Develop preceptor programs and meet with new nurses regularly.

6. Track why nurses are leaving your organization by doing exit interviews.

7. Get nurses involved with each other socially.

8. Regularly meet individually with nurses and be interested in them personally as well as professionally.

9. Accomodate nurses scheduling preferences and respond quickly to requests for scheduling changes.

10. Make sure nurses' salaries are competitive and inform them about their compensation package.
